About the seminar
This celebratory seminar marks the 50th anniversary of the Pegasus computer which is exhibited in the Science Museum – the oldest working electronic computer in the world. This computer was restored by members of the Computer Conservation Society – a significant achievement. It went on display in the Computing Gallery of the Science Museum in 1999.
This outline programme includes the following topics:
- The Pegasus computer – its features
- Restoring the Pegasus – about the restoration project
- Pegasus applications - significant uses and achievements - including a short Ferranti promotional film from the 1950s
- Why restore old computers such as Pegasus
The event will include a visit to see Pegasus in operation in the Computing Gallery of the Science Museum.
