About the seminar
When the late Hamish Carmichael retired from ICL, he set to work to collect
and publish two volumes of anecdotes told by numerous ICL employees past and present.
In every story Hamish’s gentle wit shines though and this afternoon
will be a tribute to a much loved and respected gentlemen who
passed away in the summer of 2017.
Before he died Hamish had planned to publish a third (and final?) volume
with an expanded scope to include stories from the Society and from
other sources in the industry.
He asked Dik and his widow Kathy to complete this long-awaited work in
his absence and this work remains in progress (all contributions gratefully received).
The afternoon will draw on both the published and unpublished resources we have at our disposal.
The speakers will take it in turn to read their favourite anecdotes.
Perhaps the audience will feel moved to join in. Who knows?
In keeping with our usual December meeting traditions, the tone will be
light-hearted and we hope to send each of you away with a spring in your step,
a smile on your lips and joy in your heart.
